2023 Annual Meeting Planning Information

2023 ANNUAL MEETING PLANNING INFORMATION

DUXBURY MASSACHUSETTS, AUGUST 4-6, 2023.

The 2023 DELANO KINDRED Annual Meeting and Reunion will be held in Duxbury, MA, August 4-6 at the Alden House Historic Site (AHHS). Although the Delano Kindred Annual Meeting itself will be separate, all other activities will be held jointly with the Alden Kindred and the Pilgrim Peter Brown Society on the AHHS grounds. As a result, we will not be needing a hotel to be a "home base". We have not blocked any hotel rooms anywhere; all attendees are free to make whatever accommodations they prefer. There are some suggestions at the end of this Post.

Delano Kindred members must register on this site to attend our Annual Meeting. Registration for the Reunion part of the meeting can be done either via the Alden Kindred (if you are an Alden Kindred member) or here on this site along with your Annual Meeting registration.

In addition to the registration itself, your registration fee includes everything except the Chowderfest, the Bradford House Breakfast, and the Bradford House Tour; those are optional events at a nominal addional cost.

The presentation by Rev. Soule on Saturday is titled "Prosecutions for Fornication in Plymouth Colony 1620-1694." But wait... here's the subtitle: "The Fast Life and Hard Times of Tom and Becky Delano" (aka Dr. Thomas Delano and Rebecca Alden). You do not want to miss this one!

Registration for this event ended on 08/04/2023.

  • Collect, preserve and educate the public about the history of the Town of Kingston;
  • Make its collections accessible through exhibitions, research assistance, educational programs and lectures;
  • Preserve, protect and maintain the Society’s Headquarters (the Major John Bradford Homestead) and other possessions.

OUR DELANO and COOKE ANCESTORS:

The INTREPID de LANNOYS and MAHIEUS from FLANDERS

(The extraordinary story of these unique MAYFLOWER and FORTUNE Pilgrims)

A Presentation and Conversation with Author George Philip English

followed by a Brief Discussion of the 2023 Delano Kindred European History Tour

Hosted by Delano Kindred Board Member Col. William English, CBE

About this presentation: The European Ancestry and History of Francis Cooke and Philip Delano/Philippe de Lannoy is, possibly, the most unique among the first Pilgrims on the Mayflower and Fortune to New England. The de Lannoys and Mahieus came from French-speaking Flanders. Their extraordinary and fascinating story was very different to that of the English Pilgrims. Persecuted by their Spanish Catholic rulers for their religious beliefs, they fled to Canterbury in England. Later, they went to Leiden, Holland, nearly 20 years before the English Separatists arrived.

Join our host, fellow descendant and Delano Kindred Board member Col. William English, CBE, as genealogist, historian and de Lannoy/Mahieu descendant George English presents the fascinating, evidence-based family history in his book The Delano and Cooke Ancestors, with the family members, historical and social information, pictures and maps to bring them to life. The Delano and Cooke Ancestors is available for purchase on the Delano Kindred website.

Following this presentation there was a brief discussion and Q&A about the Delano Kindred European History Tour which starts on September 19, 2023 in Amsterdam, continues for 10 days, and concludes in London.

THIS DELANO ANCESTRY AND HISTORY IS SHARED BY 5 US PRESIDENTS, WINSTON CHURCHILL AND A MILLION DESCENDANTS.

Following that is the story of Albert French Delano by Muriel Cushing titled "Not Lost, Albert Delano is Found"; Part 3 of "Our Unique de Lannoy and Mahieu Ancestors from Flanders" by George English; and The restoration of the Esther (Delano) Soule Gravestone.
